About Us

Yapton is a rural village set in the county of West Sussex. Yapton Pre-School is an Ofsted Good Pre-School.

The pre-school, situated in the grounds of Yapton Primary School, has two light and spacious rooms and a large colourful foyer. The foyer is often used as the play/learning area. We have a large enclosed garden area that is easily accessible via one of the rooms. There is an all weather surface, a large sheltered area & a wooden outside room which enables us to use the garden all year round.

Yapton Pre-School is a committee run registered charity & limited company. Although we are independent of Yapton Primary School, we have very close links with them & other schools in our area.

Ofsted

"The passionate managers and their dedicated staff team work together well to create a safe, nurturing and loving environment. They build wonderful bonds with the children and show genuine care for their well-being. Children feel cherished and their individual achievements are warmly celebrated, no matter how big or small. This helps children to develop a strong sense of self-esteem and to take pride in their efforts throughout the day. For example, children excitedly showed off their finished Christmas creations, sought a 'high five' when they put on their coat and showed staff when they finished their snack."

Yapton Pre-School "Staff provide children with a good range of activities that link to their interests and next steps in learning. Therefore, children are engaged and motivated to learn."

Our History

Yapton Community Preschool is a committee run Preschool that started life as a playgroup above the shops in the village, before moving into the Mary Walvern Centre. In the late 1980's we relocated to the newly built village hall, becoming a Preschool in the 1990's, before finally being offered our current home on the grounds of Yapton Primary School in 2003. Even though we are separate from Yapton Primary school we have great links with all the local schools to enable us to work in partnership for the children and their families. We have an amazing team who have developed their skills over a long period of time and enthusiastically share their knowledge and their professional curiosity working in partnership with our families.

Outside Play

We have a large enclosed garden with a cabin, two large all weather sheltered areas and plenty of space to run, jump, dance, build and climb. We spend a lot of time outside exploring the benefits of growing our own vegetables and plants, learning about nature and the natural world all around us. We also enjoy forest school sessions and rambles with peers.

Inside Play

We have two large play rooms Caterpillars aged 2-3 and Butterflies aged 3-4 (September school starter). We support the children in their learning journey with age appropriate activities and crafts, and free-flow both groups to stimulate personal, social and emotional interactions and encouraging speech and language skills and physical development.
